Mesothelioma Foundation

How are my chances of getting into medical school looking? Where can I improve?

I’m currently double majoring in microbiology and psychology, and I’m 75% sure that I’m going to add biology as a third major. My GPA right now is only a 2.7 but I had a rough first couple of quarters, and I’ve been doing much better this quarter. I’m only in my first year of college, so I have a few years to bring it back up to par. I haven’t taken the MCAT yet(due to lack of physics classes). I’m assisting my anatomy professor in the dissection of cadavers, organizing a charity event for the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation, participating in a team for the Relay for Life, and I’ve talked to several doctors about shadowing them during surgery.

Constructive criticism is appreciated :)

You do not need a triple major. It will probably not help your admission. A higher GPA in a double major is better than one that is even slightly lower in a triple major.

Concentrate on bringing your GPA up to at least 3.76 which is still mathematically possible at this point based on a quick mental calculation.

Students usually do not take the MCAT until the end of the third year. The additional classes and experience will help them achieve a higher score.
